Second Elephant Rescue Featured on The Dodo!
We’re thrilled to announce a major milestone at Unchained Elephants! Shortly after successfully rescuing our third elephant, Mongkoln—a baby bull elephant—we received incredible news. On June 7th, we were delighted to discover a pleasant surprise on our social media channels: The Dodo featured our second elephant rescue, Kham Phaeng, across their platforms. With Kanoon’s rescue story already reaching over 1.1 million views since March 10th, we were overjoyed that our second rescue received similar recognition.
From all of us at Unchained Elephants, we are truly grateful to you for covering our elephant rescues and shining a light on our mission. We can’t thank you enough! Hannah and The Dodo team, your efforts are making a profound impact on the world, and we are committed to furthering elephant welfare. We won’t let you down. Thank you so much for helping us share Kanoon’s and Kham Phaeng’s inspiring stories with the world.
OUR SECOND ELEPHANT RESCUE: KHAM PHAENG'S STORY
For those unfamiliar, Kham Phaeng‘s journey began on December 12th, 2023, when we embarked on a mission to rescue this resilient 54-year-old female elephant from a life of hardship in Thailand’s tourism industry. Despite facing daunting challenges, including the recent passing of Kanoon and logistical complexities, our dedicated team and partners at Somboon Legacy Foundation worked to secure her freedom and provide her with the care she urgently needed.
Grateful for The Dodo: CELEBRATING KANOON'S & KHAM PHAENG'S FREEDOM
As we reflect on our second elephant rescue, we honor the memory of Kanoon, whose legacy continues to inspire us. Today, we celebrate another successful rescue, relocating Kham Phaeng, an almost toothless elephant, to an ethical sanctuary where she can live the rest of her life as an elephant. We invite you to watch The Dodo’s heartfelt feature on Kham Phaeng’s rescue, capturing the dedication and compassion that define our mission. From fundraising efforts to the emotional passing of Kanoon, to the unforgettable moment when Kham Phaeng stepped onto the truck and we witnessed the chains coming off.
Thank you to The Dodo and our incredible community for your unwavering support. Together, we are making a difference for elephants in need. Stay tuned for more updates and stories of hope from Unchained Elephants!
